Research InterestsMy principal areas of expertise are in vertebrate paleontology, biostratigraphy, and lithostratigraphy.

I am interested in field-oriented, specimen-based studies in vertebrate biostratigraphy, evolution, and systematics especially the early evolution of dinosaurs as revealed by Triassic-Jurassic paleontology, biostratigraphy and biochronology. Presently I am engaged in multiple Upper Triassic micro- and macrovertebrate projects both here in the east and in the American Southwest.

I am also the director of the McKinney Geology Teaching Museum, an outreach initiative of the Dept. of Geology here at Appalachian State University, and anticipate utilizing the museum to assist in outreach endeavors associated with the CESU.
